Final in Holzgerlingen: Van Drunen fights for a podium in the championship!

At the final race of the 2024 ADAC MX Masters series in Holzgerlingen, Baden-Württemberg, the riders of the SHR Motorsports by Hartje team once again experienced an exciting weekend on the 1,800-metre circuit at the Schützenbühlring. Jayson van Drunen and Petr Polak lined up for the team under a glorious late summer sky, while Mike Bolink and Sigurd Thomsen were unfortunately unable to take part due to injury.

After his triumph in Jauer, Jayson van Drunen was highly motivated and ready for the last race of the season. Petr Polak was also looking forward to putting his skills to the test once again. On qualifying Saturday, van Drunen showed that he feels comfortable on the long, demanding clay track. With a strong 10th place, he secured a good starting position for the qualifying heats. Polak also qualified for the main races with 13th place in Group B.

In the first race of the Masters class, which took place on Saturday, Polak got off to a good start but went down on the first lap. From last position, he bravely fought his way up to 24th place and showed a constant pace. Saturday was over and the team was looking forward to the final race day on Sunday.

Jayson van Drunen started his first race on Sunday morning. After an excellent start, he immediately moved into the top 10. With his usual fighting spirit, he worked his way up to 4th place, but had to give way to Alessandro Gaspari in the final lap after a strong duel and finished in a solid 5th place. After the lunch break, Petr Polak started his second race and, after a slow start, was once again able to work his way up from the back of the field, but bad luck followed him here too. Two laps before the end, a stone hit his holeshot system, which jammed and made it impossible to continue. Fortunately, the team was able to repair the bike quickly and Polak was ready for the final race of the season.

In the final race, Jayson van Drunen gave it his all once again. After a tight scrum in the first few corners, he found himself in 13th place, but he started an impressive race to catch up. With significantly faster lap times than the competition, he fought his way up to 5th place, but a technical defect – the clutch lever fell off – forced him to finish the race in difficult conditions. Nevertheless, he secured a respectable 7th place and crowned his weekend with an outstanding 3rd place in the championship standings. After two difficult years with numerous injuries, van Drunen was able to bring the season to a successful conclusion and was more than satisfied with 3rd place overall.

Petr Polak finally got off to a better start in the last race and found himself in midfield. Unfortunately, he missed the necessary self-confidence to realise his full potential over the entire weekend. Nevertheless, he scored another championship point with 20th place and finished the season in 15th place in the overall standings. After an injury-plagued 2023, this was an important step in the right direction for Polak.
