ADAC MX Masters in Tensfeld Fire, sand and a fighter’s heart!

Back-to-back racing: After an intensive race weekend in Bielstein, the SHR Motorsports Team by Hartje headed straight to the far north, more precisely to the notorious deep sand of Tensfeld. The strong line-up of the 450cc class with Mike Stender, Emil Weckman, guest starter Anton Gole and young talent Dawid Zaremba in the Junior Cup 125cc was there. And we would also like to say one thing at this point! “Thank you” to the entire MCE Tensfeld team for putting on an absolutely fantastic ADAC MX Masters event.

Qualifying went pretty well for Emil and Anton. Emil secured 8th place and Anton even 6th place in their groups. A solid starting position for the races. Mike had a heavy crash in qualifying and had to stop the qualifying session. Despite this, he still managed to finish 13th and qualify directly for the races. Dawid didn’t really find his rhythm and only finished 25th in qualifying. There is still room for improvement.

The first race on Saturday was anything but easy for our 450s. All three came out of the gate badly and had to fight their way through the field, but they did so with heart. In the end, Anton and Emil finished 15th and 16th, Mike finished 19th. Not quite what we had hoped for and what the riders are capable of, but at least points for everyone.

Things got off to an early start on Sunday. Dawid opened the race day with the first race of the Junior Cup 125cc. You can simply rely on him at the start. In both races he was directly in the top 10 after the first corner. Although he lost a few places in the middle of the races, he was able to recover. Despite minor technical problems, he finished the first race in 14th place and the second in 12th place. A really solid result for him. He is currently in 9th place in the championship.

Then it was time for the second round of the 450s. And what a race it was! Emil came out of the gate and took almost the Holeshot in the race. He turned into the first corner in second place, but quickly had to give up this position to second in the championship, Roan van de Moosdijk. However, he was able to hold on to third place for a few laps. But then things got dramatic: after a collision with another rider, Emil crashed and his bike caught fire due to leaking fuel. Luckily, Emil was unhurt. He used sand to put the fire out and pushed the bike back into the paddock, disappointed. Mike also went down on the same lap and had to retire from the race. Anton saved the race for us and fought his way to the finish in 14th place.

There was a lot going on under the team tent. The mechanics had their hands full, even team boss Steffen Hünecke lent a hand personally. Mike and Anton were unable to take part in the third race for health reasons. Emil, meanwhile, gritted his teeth and, despite his heavy crash, took the start again. And again he came out of the gate in great shape, was in 5th place after the first corner and kept up the pace for a few laps, but the physical strain eventually made itself felt. In the end, he finished in 18th place. Huge respect for this effort!

All in all, it was a mixed weekend for our team. Each of the riders showed in qualifying that they are able to compete at the front if it weren’t for all these incidents. Now we have a two-week break, during which we can recharge our batteries and prepare for the upcoming races before heading to Gaildorf on the traditional circuit.

We are already looking forward to it.
