The fourth round of the ADAC MX Masters took place on the legendary hard pack track in Bielstein. The 1650 metre track, known for its challenging sections through the forest, provided the riders with a spectacular backdrop for the first hard pack race of the season.
Saturday began with difficult weather conditions, which presented the riders with major challenges. However, Petr Polak put in an impressive performance and secured an excellent starting position for the upcoming races by finishing 8th in his group on the last lap of qualifying. Mike Bolink was less lucky and missed out on a direct entry by just 0.05 seconds, but was able to qualify in 3rd place in the last-chance race.
Race 1:
The first race on Saturday began after the lunch break. Polak got off to an excellent start and lined up in 4th place immediately after the first lap. After intense battles, he finally crossed the finish line in 6th place – his best result of the season so far. Bolink, on the other hand, struggled with a difficult starting position and often had to take the long way round, which cost him valuable time. In the end, he finished 34th.
Race 2:
On a sunny race Sunday with high summer temperatures, the atmosphere became even more tense. Polak got off to another good start in the second race and emerged from the first lap in 11th place. Although he lost two places in the meantime, he was able to fight his way back over the course of the race and again finished in 11th place. Bolink struggled to find his rhythm after a slight collision at the start and finished the race in 29th place.
Race 3:
The third and final race was extremely exciting. Polak made a strong start and positioned himself in 10th place after the first, shortened lap. With an impressive fighting spirit and great spirit, he worked his way up to 7th place, which also earned him 7th place in the overall standings – the best result of his career at SHR Motorsports. Bolink was less successful and was involved in a crash at the start, which meant he started the race in second last place. Despite a damaged shoulder, he fought his way through and finished 34th, which earned him 38th place overall.
The team around Steffen Hünecke from SHR Motorsports by Hartje was satisfied with the weekend. Polak’s performance was especially celebrated, as he achieved his best result in his career to date. The team is now looking forward to a short break before taking to the sandtrack in Tensfeld for the last sand Race on 13/14 July.
