SHR Motorsports and Petr Polak successful at the Motocross World Championship

Last weekend saw the eagerly awaited home Grand Prix for our Czech rider Petr Polak in Loket, not far from Karlovy Vary.

The 1600 metre long hard pack track offered ideal conditions for our hard pack specialist Polak.

Saturday: qualifying and qualifying race

Qualifying on Saturday started on the still very fast track. Here, Petr Polak was able to place 28th, which secured him a less than optimal starting position for the ‘RAM’ qualifying race.

In the qualifying race, Polak then showed his fighting spirit and was able to work his way up four places, finishing the race in 24th place. The first day of the Grand Prix was finished in summery temperatures.

Sunday: Warm-up and races

Sunday was even warmer than the previous day.

In the warm-up, Polak clearly felt comfortable on the track and found a good speed, which raised expectations for the upcoming races.

First race

During the sighting lap for the first race, Polak immediately noticed a technical defect on his motorbike, which suddenly stopped throttling without warning. Certainly an exception, but that is also part of motorsport.

He had the presence of mind to turn round and get the replacement bike. In difference to the ADAC MX Masters, it is possible to switch bikes after the sighting lap in the World Championship.

After a difficult start, Polak fought his way up to 25th place on the replacement bike in the first race.

In the meantime, team boss Steffen Hünecke turned the race bike inside out and found the fault in the electronics. Thanks to the help of the entire team, the race bike was made fit again.

Second race

For the second race, Polak lined up on the inside of the starting gate and was immediately able to get into 14th place. He held 15th place for a long time, but then unfortunately slipped back to 19th place. Nevertheless, our private team was able to score two valuable points in the world championship and even leave well-known riders and a factory team behind.

We would like to thank all the helpers, sponsors and fans on the track and in front of the screens who made this race possible.

Here’s to a successful next race at the ADAC MX Masters in Gaildorf!
