MC Vellahn welcomed the ADAC MX Masters riders for the first time. The 1500 metre sand track proved to be extremely challenging and demanded a lot from the riders due to its technical nature.
Junior Cup 125
Jayson van Drunen put in a strong performance in qualifying for the Junior Cup 125 and secured 6th place. However, van Drunen was unlucky in the first race. His start was unsuccessful and he found himself in 21st place after the first lap. However, he resolutely fought his way through the field and was eventually able to work his way up to 11th place, impressively demonstrating his driving skills in the sand.
Unfortunately, bad luck stayed with Jayson van Drunen on race Sunday. In another race, he once again showed a strong recovery and was in a promising 10th place when a technical defect forced him to retire. In the third race, he made contact with the starting gate right at the beginning, which meant he started the race in last place. However, van Drunen was not discouraged and started an impressive race to catch up, which ultimately brought him back up to 10th place. As a result, he finished 13th in the overall standings.
MX Masters
The riders in the Masters category also put in impressive performances on the difficult track. Petr Polák, the fastest rider in the SHR team, lapped the course with a time of 1:43.391, placing him 6th in his qualifying group. Paul Haberland followed close behind in 8th place, while Mike Bolink finished 15th. However, a heavy crash during practice affected Haberland and he went into the first race of the weekend in a bad state of health.
Haberland and Polák got off to a good start in the first race and came out of the first lap in 11th and 12th place, while Bolink was 16th. As the race progressed, Haberland lost places after a few small mistakes and finished the race in 19th place, while Polák was also unable to maintain his position and dropped back to 13th place. Bolink also struggled with small mistakes and a missing rhythm, which in the end only earned him 25th place.
The second race on Sunday was a mixed bag for the Masters riders. Petr Polák secured 13th place, while Paul Haberland and Mike Bolink struggled with 27th and 28th place. But the third race brought a turnaround. Haberland and Polák got off to good starts and Haberland was finally able to show his full potential. He drove a strong race and achieved his first top 10 finish. Polák followed in 13th place, underlining his consistent performance over the weekend. Mike Bolink finished the race in 25th place and showed progress in every race.
The team’s focus is now on the highly expected world championship race in Teutschenthal. The SHR team is burning to thrill the home crowd and prove their strong performance once again. The excitement is clear to see and the riders are determined to conquer the podium on home soil in Teutschenthal.
